During this week there was more planning involved than anything else, as I thought I would go back to mind map and establish it to something that is not so common to defining the destruction term. First of all it wasn't going so well and then I thought of the psychological ways destruction occurs or why do we want and like destroy things? With these questions in mind, I did a survey asking people, 'What makes you angry?' and all the replies were very adult like and serious i.e. bills, people chewing loudly, liars, etc. But for some reason this was not working, I wanted it to be something fun and not peoples life problems, it was too serious. So I decided to look at younger generation; children, as they seem to destroy things whether they are angry or happy.
DAY TWO
Group tutorial that occurred with my tutor and other students was valuable, as I was able to listen to other peoples ideas and to be able to let them hear my idea and give an opinion about what I have so far. Overall the feedback was positive, they admired the angle I was approaching the theme, but I had limited research to show, as I only had a few images and that I should conduct more. If I was doing a two week project, there would of have been double the amount of work in my sketchbook. By seeing other people's projects and there concepts so far, it made me want to push myself and produce more. One thing that was holding me back on using my sketchbook, was that I was afraid to start as I wanted to present my work clearly and neat, this is from me being a perfectionist. In general the tutorial was genuinely good as it helped me come up with creative ideas to develop my concept.
I began planning experiments to have a group of children and do two experiments; the first: restricting them when colouring/ painting and then the second: give them as much freedom as they want. To record it by video and photography and this will be conducted on the Easter Break as I am able to have use the children. I want to make my research stronger I will conduct a survey with a class full of children, to understand why they like to break things, what makes them like to destroy things.
