INDUSTRY PROJECT

When given the brief, I researched the different designers, Nasir Mazhar clicked with me the most instantly as his style of clothing is much more relaxed and connects with me, with the idea of comfort clothes but look stylish. We were then placed in a group of people that I had not spoken too before and they were from promotion and others in my class, I was delighted to work with them, as I like working with new people and its nice to have a change sometimes. We were all excited about the designer so we got straight into it and played around with the concept. We selected one of the quotes and it brought us the idea of work, so we looked at industrial wear and developed on from that, playing on stand with a reflective jacket. We loved the reflective strips so we decided to incorporate that idea to represent work wear and from sketches we designed it looked great and seem to flow well as something Nasir would do.

We wanted to bring that party vibe of the 90’s, researched the different colours and styles and the different textures, fluffy, rough and smooth, etc. Started designing and looking at braces and the slouchy clothing as that was the 90’s style there and looked at what young woman wore.

During the whole process we got along as a team no arguments occurred during the project. I really enjoyed working with others that were not in my class.

I think overall the final outcome was good as we created a collection that Nasir liked as he showed on social media, but next time if I wanted to challenge Nazir I would of took it to another level.
