Reconstruct/ Deconstruct Project
Began researching before the presentation on the different designers that used this technique when creating a collection. Maison Margiela stood out to me, as the most creative when reconstructing the garments and Vetements were great too but very simple and not as creatively extravagant. I loved how they were constructed which inspired me for ideas. I was advised to look at artists, architects not just designers and I discovered an architect called Shao Fan and he manipulated old chairs with modern but stayed to true to where he came from, all the chairs are from china. When I was researching I was excited for this project as it's different from all the previous projects as I am actually creating something but I am using actual garments and not making from scratch.
Began taking pictures of clothing I got from charity shops and then placed them on the stand and then manipulated them on photoshop, playing around with the sizes and contrasting the different materials with each other. I began with the flat shots, then with stand shots I transformed them on photoshop and you can see the difference and allows you to create ideas much quicker than designing them, thats why I love this technique. I used it constantly throughout the project but created designs of them allowing more development and to be able to get a final garment. I decided that I wanted to mix the cotton shirt with the jeans as the idea cam from the artist Shao Fan, the old and new. So the shirt was new and jeans were old and the different fabrics as they contradict each other, it just made the garments much more fun but actually wearable even though they have been reconstructed.
When experimenting I really liked the pleating technique and layering layers of of fabric on top and destroying them. So I took these techniques and tried them out and managed to get a wearable garment at the end of it. I enjoyed this project as my work flowed very well through the whole project and didn't feel like there was gaps in between.

INDUSTRY PROJECT
When given the brief, I researched the different designers, Nasir Mazhar clicked with me the most instantly as his style of clothing is much more relaxed and connects with me, with the idea of comfort clothes but look stylish. We were then placed in a group of people that I had not spoken too before and they were from promotion and others in my class, I was delighted to work with them, as I like working with new people and its nice to have a change sometimes. We were all excited about the designer so we got straight into it and played around with the concept. We selected one of the quotes and it brought us the idea of work, so we looked at industrial wear and developed on from that, playing on stand with a reflective jacket. We loved the reflective strips so we decided to incorporate that idea to represent work wear and from sketches we designed it looked great and seem to flow well as something Nasir would do.
We wanted to bring that party vibe of the 90’s, researched the different colours and styles and the different textures, fluffy, rough and smooth, etc. Started designing and looking at braces and the slouchy clothing as that was the 90’s style there and looked at what young woman wore.
During the whole process we got along as a team no arguments occurred during the project. I really enjoyed working with others that were not in my class.
I think overall the final outcome was good as we created a collection that Nasir liked as he showed on social media, but next time if I wanted to challenge Nazir I would of took it to another level.
