LFW and TREND REPORT

London Fashion Week is always amazing but going to the actual event is phenomenal, as the amazing street style of the people. The task was to try and get into atlas one of the events, however the amount of security and the places full to the capacity it was very difficult to get in. On the other hand we watched a show on the big screen at the Golden Square Garden which was awesome as well as people with amazing style that walked by as there were industries taking photographs and sponsors around there. This could of been done if I planned the day before of shows I should visit to get in or either ask to be a plus one of a photographer or act like a blogger by blabbing my way in. Its all about being at the right place at the right time, like I should of gone to the Burberry show, to get amazing shots of the celebrity styles.

As I did not manage to get into any shows but as I arrived early to the location I was able to retrieve tickets to a talk event with a fashion designer named Zandra Rhodes, which was interesting to know about her and her style and what she had been doing over the past years. I wish that I moved around more by the locations of the shows as maybe some how I would have been able to get into one by trying haone of a photographer or act like a blogger by blabbing my way in. Its all about being at the right place at the right time, like I should of gone to the Burberry show, to get amazing shots of the celebrity styles. I enjoyed taking shots of street style as I was right in my element as I enjoy photography a lot however I find myself quite hesitant when approaching new people, but the task allowed me to overcome this. I did manage to go out and help at the last show of LFW, which was really awesome and that was FAD.
Awesome Model that I found

The next task was to collect any samples, documentation or imagery for a trend report and for the help of my project that could link with my two images. So I was understanding and discovering how designer collections are presented through windows to mannequins and rails in the stores. I noticed that they are very adventurous with there presentation in there windows so that they can attract the target market but also other people. This task was very fun to do as I was able to discover stores that I would not go in a daily basis and learn new designers that have amazing work and are not that common like; Chanel, Gucci, BOSS, Fendi, Mulberry, etc... It was a little hard at the start as I did not understand what I should exactly be looking for and it was very awkward and difficult going into luxury designer stores as they had all eyes on you. I enjoyed the task as I was able to explore London streets and stores so that it can help me in the future if I am looking for any fabric stores or research for myself or creating a trend report.

Photoshop edit created of things I gathered around London

The research information and imagery that I collected in London was used to help me create a Trend Report by 2pm and work in a group. First of all, I enjoy working in a group but the people in my group were sort of lazy and I had to set up and take leadership and tell everyone what they need to do and how we should represent it because if I didn't do that we would of had nothing to showcase at the end. One thing I didn't like was that there was a time limit and everything had to been planned out quickly and created that I even had to work through my lunch break but it allowed me to be more organised and trust in my ideas and confidence when producing work. I was also able to explore and build on my skills on the use of Photoshop will help a lot in the future when advertising and promoting.

Fashion Film/ Promotion

I decided to explore promotion further by creating a fashion film and I learnt the different film terminologies as well as the different stages on how to create a film. Beginning with planning, scripting, storyboards then looking at cameras, sound (recordings) and then editing softwares like; Adobe Premiere Pro. Using 'Setup and Payoff' to create a concept which first of all was confusing to understand until it was expanded and explained with this quote "The quickest way to a man's heart is through his chest." - Roseanne Barr. The 'Setup' is the advice Barr is stating but the 'Payoff' is that its a joke. This term will help me further on in the future when promoting work on how I want to portray it to the audience through videos/films, photographs, etc.

I then went of planning a concept by researching other products that are already out there. There were so many good fashion films like; 'ZARA Mood Advertising Commercial' and 'Gucci presents: Modern Mod' which had an awesome beat that allowed the beat be quick and fast paced, making it entertaining which i liked and wanted to portray. It was challenging to keep to one idea and being over ambitious, as with the short period of time that we had to create a 1 minute fashion film you are not able to do a lot. The time limit of the film I thought it would be difficult to stick to the minute as normally fashion films are atleast 3 minutes or less. As i decided to work independently, this mean that i had to do everything on my own making it much more difficult however i like a challenge, so I was right in my element. When researching to find some inspiration I spent a little too much time, which was not good timing skills and I should of created a schedule before I began so that everything is spread out equally and meet the deadline of the final product.

I had an idea but it was messy and jumbled, so I had to sit down and make my idea clear and have the shots all planned out so that when i film it, its understandable for me, my model and my second camera man. One thing I had to resolve when filming is that my second camera man that was helping me out with extra shots bailed on me, so I had to work around it but changing some camera shots and angles. However this led to me creating extra shots that were much better and entertaining, but allowed the Model to be more loose and care free during the shoot.

On Wednesday, I was taught the basis of the editing software I was going to use, it was not a straight forward application like others as it contained so many features. Its such an advance software that it took a while getting used to, so that I was able to create a final product. I wanted to include more advance features like; reverse slow motion, which i thought would be difficult but it was straight forward. I tried the technique and some students viewed that edit and really enjoyed it as it was very entertaining and they looked so drawn in which is very good for promoting a product. When filming my fashion film, I included extra clips and these caused problems as I had so many that I didn't know where to put them so I decided to make a decision and go one route, thats goes with the logo. As well as I managed after a few try to get the edited clips to beat of the music as I wanted this fast pace and exciting film to represent the product.

This Fashion Film will help me in the future when promoting any garments or products that I create or have been created by someone else. Overall the work was successful even though there were some bumps along the way and successful as it broaden my knowledge and my level of skills in promotion and film as well as using Adobe Premiere Pro.

(The Fashion Film will be shortly on YouTube.)

First Review

Mind Map of Images

During the first week of the course, I believe I coped well, as it is difficult for me to change environment as I did not no one and how I should be working in my sketchbook. I think I struggled the most with what I should present and do in my sketchbook. As my images were so different but doing the mind map it allowed me to break down the images and allow them to connect in two ways. I coped very well with research at the museums and through books as i enjoy it and find it very interesting. I am not use to working at the fast pace, but I will improve by creating a time table or planning what to do everyday.

What I would do differently is to ask more questions so that I understand the work and don't be afraid and experiment with different media, let loose.

The feedback that was given from my sketchbook was very useful and helpful as I understand what I should do better next time.
