So this week I experimented with different techniques to create samples that can relate to my them.
DAY ONE
I have previously done a draping workshop but it was more expressive and free form, so I thought ill give this one a go as it was more structured, creating a basic pattern on the stand, it required a lot of techniques ad practice to become better. I thought it was important as it was a different way to create a pattern but I need a lot of practice to be a pro at it. I will take this forward to help me create a basic shape pattern and then I can change it by adding extra bits, they can just be measured straight from the stand.
DAY TWO
As I continued researching and developing the destructive army path, I looked into Japan and the bombing Hiroshima and how violent and deadly it was, so I was inspired to create these slightly comical images. Used the bright, bold brush marks from the children experiment and mixed it in the bomb explosion, like paints is exploded. Lifting the mood of war. It was risky but I thought it was a great way to create a connection between the fun and the sad, depressing side of life. For a part of my plan, it was to acknowledge that I shouldn't be controlling what I want my idea to go forward to be, so I thought if this idea emerged as an idea, I may as well take initiative and explore it and if it fails or doesn't work, then don't include it in the work. I believe that it slightly worked but I continued to look more in depth into the August 6, 1945 poem by Alison Fell. To explain the day and what it was like she described in a child friendly way, mentioning Marilyn Monroe's, most famous moment when her skirt blew up, mentioning nursery rhymes, and reptiles.
DAY THREE
Learnt how to use the laser cutter and understand some of the basics of Adobe Illustrator. From the laser cutter I created some shapes that related to a photoshop experiment that I transformed something serious into a little comical by using the brush marks from the children experiments. So I used outlined the shape around and made it etch the image like a photograph, which gives it some texture but like a weird reflective shape. I tried the laser cut on plastic and I think it was great but I don't think it will look as cool on a fabric, unless you laser cut it.
So from the knit samples I created some manipulations buy changing the size and the scales to and then sculptured the shapes tracing paper to use the shape created and do some rough designs.

Week 3
During the Easter break, I manage to undergo some experiments that allowed me to evolve my idea on children destruction further on. So I invited children and gave them paint and paper and to be able to do whatever there heart desired. Then from the pieces of art they created, I used some of the shapes and manipulated on photoshop to creates rough designs. It worked well but after my tutorial my tutor helped me realised that they created something, they didn't destruct something as I wanted it to portray.
DAY TWO
With the useful feedback I received I continued to look at destruction in the army and different wars that I am familiar with. World War II was the most outstanding as how the war ended, one atomic bomb ended all destruction between countries. This reminded me of a poem I had researched before for English Literature, it was called; August 6, 1945. I continued analysing the poem and the context behind it.
DAY ONE
Start of the week, as I mentioned that I had a tutorial, I was able to show the work that I managed to have done so far and I think these are useful as it allows another perspective on your theme and how you can look at it in another way. It was really relevant as it opened my eyes on what I had done, I forced the idea to quickly on children when there are different aspects of destruction, like emotional destruction; relationships, war, etc. At the time when thinking about destructive children, I was thinking in my head that it would be much more fun and not as serious as looking at war, etc. What I needed to do next was to understand how it feels when someone breaks up with you, or when people destroy your personal belongings, destruction of society?! So I will develop on further with these ideas and begin to do some stand work and designing.

DAY THREE
The next day I thought I'll try something new and learn how to knit, learnt the basics at the start, I would say i am not the best but I still tried and created some samples that related to war, the after math of destruction from the holes and blood splatters only done by thread nothing else. Weaved in red thread and shaped like a blood splatter, in a small section. From the swatches I am going to go ahead and do some photoshop manipulations layering the samples, enlarging/shrinking, twisting/ making it thinner, etc. To modify it in anyway possible so that I am able to develop and do some designs but drawn this time, from the shapes gather from the page.
